Austrian tour

On Wednesday eve, after a great day of skiing in Engelberg, I left for Austria again. I’d decided to meet up with Austrian ripping skiers Lorraine Huber and Sandra Lahnsteiner in Arlberg for some filming.

The morning after we got up early and headed to Stuben, one of the many good areas for freeskiing in Arlberg. We got up to the face Lori had scouted for us, checked it and started touring up to the top. This is how it looked from the bottom.
We skied our first lines and then went on to the next venue.
Sandy and Lori enjoying the warming sun at the top.
Sandra getting ready to ski a nice powder line. Filming involves lots of hiking, touring and sidestepping as finding untracked snow is key for getting good shots.

After a good day with several shots each Sandra and I left Arlberg and drove towards Salzburg. We had made plans to go filming in Weißsee Gletscherwelt, a small resort perfect for freeskiing, together with freestyle skier Caja Schoepf the day after. Weather was supposed to stay clear until noon but once we got up there the fog came in right as we got up to the top station. Nothing to do about that so we decided to cancel filming and instead go for a few runs and scout some lines for our next visit. Sandra, Caja and I had fun despite the difficult conditions.

Although our day in Weißsee didn’t turn out as planned I really enjoyed the day skiing with fun people and seeing a new resort that I for sure will visit again.

After skiing Sandra dropped me off at a train station where I took the train to Schladming. Mattias is racing here tomorrow and I wouldn’t wanna miss out. Keeping fingers crossed for the ladies now!

Engadin – ISPO – Lech

I’ve spent the last week on the road. First I went to Engadin for another 4-star qualifier. The face we skied there was really tricky and I struggled finding a line. AND finding my way down the mountain. The snow conditions didn’t help either, hard and wind-packed. Face inspection the day before the competition. The face.
Anja, Tone and I before the competition. Little did we know that we would end up…
… on the podium all three of us! Anja 1st, Tone 2nd and me 3rd. An all-scandinavian day!

After the comp I went back to Engelberg but I only stayed for one night before I went to ISPO in Munich. ISPO is the biggest wintersport fair in the world and there were plenty of things to see and people to meet. Met fellow skier Sandra Lahnsteiner in the Peak Performance stand. Here we are standing in front of the brand new Project no9 jacket.

Found a lot of nice and not-so-nice gear for next year. These are Bogner’s key items for next winter. Like it?

After ISPO I met up with Christine, Adam, Lotten, Hannes and Carl-Johan in Lech am Arlberg and today we had a nice day of skiing here.

Now time for dinner.
